Raystown Lake Region, PA Area Recreation



Raystown Lake features fishing for the serious fisherman. In addition to the lake there are numerous trout streams within twenty minutes drive from the Ridge Retreat. Former President Jimmy Carter favors the streams around Alexandra, 7 miles West on Rt 22. Go to the Raystown web site and check it out for yourself.

For boating, Seven Points Marina is aproximately 15 minutes from the Ridge Retreat South on Rt 26.

Whipple Dam State Park located aproximately 21 miles north of Huntingdon on Rt 26, 12 miles south of State College. This locale is perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or just enjoying nature.

For those who would like to explore caves, Lincoln Caverns is about 5 miles south of Huntingdon on Rt.22 West. Penn Caves is just a bit further.

And for history buffs, a visit to Greenwood Furnace, where a 19th century industrial community once thrived, is a treat.
